Check your exact model and regional version in the compatibility guide, then look for 'Add eSIM' in your phone's settings. The phone also has to be carrier-unlocked. On arrival. The clock starts when the eSIM first connects to a network inside the plan's coverage, not when you pay and not when you install, which is what makes installing at home over Wi-Fi safe. Buy ahead if you like, and connect for the first time within a year of purchase.
Yes. Keep your home SIM installed alongside the travel eSIM. Your existing number stays with your home SIM, and WhatsApp keeps the number you registered. Some travel plans include a separate phone number. Your home carrier’s calls, texts and roaming remain separate.
Choose a plan with included call minutes or SMS to use those services through your phone’s normal calling and messaging apps. Data-only plans support internet calling and messaging apps. Check the allowances on your selected plan. Charges on your home line stay separate.
Start with your phone's recent daily use, which it reports in its own cellular settings, and multiply by the days away. Add room for video calls, uploads and any laptop you tether. On an unlimited plan, the daily full-speed allowance and the speed after it are on the plan row.
Tethering draws on the plan's own allowance, so a hotspot spends the same data your phone does. Each plan row says whether it allows tethering, and the few plans that cap it separately or forbid it say so there. On an unlimited plan, hotspot data counts towards the same daily allowance.
