How we compare eSIM plans
For every destination we pull each supplier network's data plans, normalise them to a price per GB, and surface the cheapest option that actually covers your trip length. Coverage, speed tier and validity are part of the comparison, not just headline price. A cheap plan that runs out on day three is not the cheapest plan.
eSIM comparison questions
An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone - there is no plastic card to insert. You download a data plan over the air and your phone connects to a local network instantly. Most phones released since 2018 support eSIM.
You buy a plan, install the eSIM with a QR code or directly in the SimFuse app, and it connects to a partner network at your destination. Your home SIM stays active for calls and texts, while the eSIM handles your data.
Most phones from iPhone XS / XR (2018) onward, plus recent Samsung Galaxy, Google Pixel and many other models, support eSIM. Open Settings and look for 'Add eSIM'. Your phone must also be carrier-unlocked.
Validity begins when the eSIM first connects to a network at your destination, not when you buy or install it. Installing at home over Wi-Fi uses no data, so you can set everything up before you fly.
Yes. SimFuse travel eSIMs are data-only and run alongside your physical SIM, so your home number stays active for calls and texts. You simply set the eSIM as your data line while travelling.
SimFuse plans are data-only, but you can call and message over WhatsApp, FaceTime, iMessage, Telegram and any other app using your data. Your home SIM remains available for traditional calls and SMS.
As a rule of thumb: light use (maps and messaging) is about 1GB per week, moderate use (social media and browsing) about 3–5GB per week, and heavy use (streaming or hotspot) 10GB+ or an unlimited plan.
Yes - SimFuse plans support tethering and hotspot, so you can share your data with a laptop, tablet or a travel companion's phone.
No. You pay one upfront price for your data plan and that's it - no surprise roaming bills from your home carrier when you get back.
An eSIM wins for travel: buy before you fly, activate in minutes, skip the airport SIM kiosk, never lose a tiny plastic card, and keep your home number active the whole time.
You can top up instantly in the SimFuse app without reinstalling the eSIM. Your plan and settings stay exactly as they were - just add more data and keep going.
Single-country plans cover one country, while our regional plans (Europe, Asia, North America, Middle East and Global) cover many countries on a single eSIM - ideal for multi-stop trips.
An eSIM is as secure as a physical SIM and cannot be physically removed or stolen from your phone. Your plan is tied to your SimFuse account and protected if your device is lost.
Go to Settings → Cellular/Mobile Data → Add eSIM, then scan the QR code or install directly from the SimFuse app. Label it 'Travel' and set it as your data line. Do this on Wi-Fi before you leave home.
Go to Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Add eSIM / Download a SIM, then scan the QR code or use the SimFuse app. The exact menu path varies slightly by brand (Samsung, Google Pixel, etc.).
