Not anonymity: sites you sign in to know you

Bijgewerkt 2026-10-24: The VPN is now in the Android app on Google Play, so it works on iPhone and Android. When this post first ran, the Android version had not reached Google Play yet.

SimFuse now sells a VPN as an add-on to your eSIM. You pay once, nothing renews, and your days start the first time you connect, not when you pay. It is in the SimFuse app for iPhone and Android from version 2.0.

Adding it takes one switch. At checkout, turn on Stay private and the app offers the shortest plan that lasts as long as your eSIM; in a cart, it follows your longest eSIM. Already have an eSIM? The VPN side of the Connect tab offers three plans, with the one that covers the rest of your trip marked Recommended. Signed in on simfuse.app, the website checkout shows the same offer.

What it does: your traffic goes through an encrypted WireGuard connection to a SimFuse VPN server. The hotel, airport or café network can see that you are connected, but not what you open or send. It covers the whole phone, on your eSIM, on Wi-Fi and on your home SIM. Pick a location yourself, each listed with its round trip in milliseconds, or take the one the app recommends.

The kill switch is on by default. If the connection drops mid-session, it blocks internet until the VPN reconnects, and disconnecting restores ordinary access. When your days run out, the VPN disconnects and you can renew from Connect or Explore. Buy more days while you are connected and they start where the old ones end, without the tunnel dropping.

What it does not do: make you anonymous. Sites you sign in to still know it is you, and the VPN protects your connection only while it is switched on. System services and local networks can bypass the kill switch. Traffic through the VPN still counts against your eSIM's data, and a VPN does not change the law in the country you are visiting.

One practical limit. The VPN runs alongside a SimFuse eSIM, so the app asks you to get one first if you have none.
